Our Story

The Guadalupe River Valley cuts through the heart of the Texas Hill Country, providing some of the most well known, popular and scenic water destinations in Texas. McMarr Ranch is privileged to share the banks and the history of such an incredible Texas landmark. The Ranch is located just north of Waring, TX, and enjoys a mile and a half of the Guadalupe River as its southern border.

Just 30 miles to the north, lies Fredericksburg and the famous Texas wine country. Fifteen miles to the south is the beautiful German inspired town of Boerne, TX, and just another fifteen minutes further, and you’ll arrive at the great city of San Antonio. The ranch is actually located halfway between the towns of Welfare and Comfort, which were named appropriately, with the peacefulness and solitude that you can find in the area and on the McMarr Ranch.

The McMarr Ranch sports 1,500 acres of pristine whitetail and axis hunting, and is a third generation, family owned and operated property. The ranch originally served as a “friends and family” hunting destination; however, it transitioned into a turnkey commercial hunting operation that welcomes and pleasantly surprises guests from all over. The ranch boasts a tremendous infrastructure of all weather roads, welcoming lodging, a large kitchen and dining facility, state of the art on-site cold storage, a long range shooting veranda, and weather and insect proof hunting blinds that can comfortably accommodate 3-4 people.

The McMarr is family friendly to all hunters and non-hunters. Whether or not the whole family hunts, the McMarr Ranch is still the number one destination for your next family getaway, because of its proximity and ease of access to antique shopping, wine country, high-end shopping, Six Flags, and fishing and kayaking opportunities along the Guadalupe river. Corporations and small businesses are very welcome as well, as the ranch can accommodate large groups for off-site business meetings, or a combination of hunting adventures and meetings, making it the perfect business retreat. The property boasts a large kitchen and dining area, which are useful when entertaining clients or guests after a great trophy hunt.

The McMarr Ranch even has impressive historical roots! Renowned American Artist, Georgia O’Keefe actually lived in the Big House (Main House) on the McMarr for a period of time during 1918, while she was recovering from an illness that was thought to be the Spanish Flu.
